DevSheets got another front-door pass today, but this one was less about “make it nicer” and more about making the site explain itself the second it loads.
The previous homepage already had item-level search and a cleaner layout. The missing piece was identity. The site still felt too close to my broader brand, so I moved the product to a green primary color with blue as the secondary accent, simplified the logo, and matched the favicon to the new mark.
The bigger product decision was to put a working search surface in the hero. The homepage search now finds sheets by technology or title, while the modal stays focused on searching inside sheets. That split is clearer: the front page answers “what should I open?” and the popup answers “where is the exact command?”
what shipped:
- a compact vertical hero built around live sheet search
- the green primary and blue secondary visual system
- a new account CTA for tracking sheets and known items
- a bare green logo and matching favicon
- removal of the old learning-tracker banner
The best small detail is the account CTA. It changes from “Start tracking free” to “Open your dashboard” depending on state, but it does not make the reference library feel gated. DevSheets still works as a public lookup tool first. Accounts only make it more personal.
