I spent the morning going through skills.sh, Vercel’s agent skills leaderboard, and listing what it had that SkillPass didn’t. Most of the list was reach: their CLI installs into 78 agents, mine knew two folders. The rest of the list went into the build plan. That gap got fixed today.
skillpass add <slug> --target cursor now works, along with windsurf,
github-copilot, gemini-cli, opencode, codex, and cline. The useful
part came from reading each tool’s own docs instead of trusting the
leaderboard’s table. Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, Copilot, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode
all read the same shared folder: .agents/skills in a project and
~/.agents/skills for user-level installs. So instead of nine separate
folders, six of the slugs resolve to the same two places, and there is an
agents target that names the shared folder directly. Claude Code keeps
.claude/skills, and Cline keeps .cline/skills because its docs never
mention the shared one. --global works for every tool, --target can be
repeated on add to install into several tools with one pre-flight and one
download, and list, outdated, remove, and update report a shared
folder once instead of six times.
The other new command is skillpass search --ai "turn a video into an article". It hits the same free semantic search endpoint the homepage uses,
keeps the server’s relevance order, and the usual --target, --category,
and --packs filters still apply. Rate limits and outages get a plain
sentence instead of a bare status code.
The review bot on the PR caught two real bugs after the merge. --target constructor crashed because the registry lookup used plain property access,
and running the CLI from your home directory made the project and user folders
the same path, which broke --global removals. Both are fixed in the same
release.
0.4.0 is on npm: npm install -g skillpass. Next from the same comparison is
installing a skill straight from any GitHub repo with the validator run
locally first, so the passport sits in front of every install, listed or not.
